Frequently Asked Questions

General

What is data roaming?

Data roaming occurs when your mobile device connects to the internet outside of your home network’s coverage area, typically when you travel to a different country or region. When you roam, your device uses another carrier’s network, which can lead to higher charges because you’re outside your standard coverage zone. Without realizing it, you might incur substantial fees for data usage while roaming, which can result in an unexpectedly high bill.

Error: “This code is no longer valid” when scanning eSIM QR code

This error may occur due to an incomplete scan, often caused by a poor Wi-Fi connection or an active VPN. Disable your VPN and try scanning again, or manually input the activation code.

To verify eSIM installation:

  • On Android: Go to Settings > System > About phone > SIM status, and check the ICCID.
  • On iPhone: Navigate to Settings > General > About to locate the ICCID.

If eSIM is properly installed, the new ICCID should be visible.

Important: The eSIM QR code is unique and can only be installed once. If you encounter an error message when scanning the QR code for the first time, please contact our support team for assistance.

What eSIM plans are available?

Browse country and regional eSIM plans in our catalog. Each available plan shows its data allowance, validity and price in Points. Choose the destination and plan that suit your trip.

Will the eSIM work with my mobile device?

eSIM World plans work on devices that support eSIM and are not locked to a carrier. See our Supported Brands page for the models we list, and check your device’s settings or ask its manufacturer if you are unsure.

Important: Check that your device is compatible before you buy an eSIM. Some models sold in particular countries do not support eSIM.

eSIM Activation & Setup

How do I activate my eSIM?

Open My eSIMs in your account, choose your eSIM, and scan the QR code with your phone’s “Add eSIM” option. You can also enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code by hand. A copy of the details is also sent to your e-mail. Most devices prompt you to finish the setup automatically once the QR code is scanned.

What devices are compatible with eSIM?

Many modern smartphones and some tablets support eSIM. Check your device’s specifications or ask its manufacturer to confirm, and see our Supported Brands page. Examples are iPhones from the iPhone XS onwards and recent Google Pixel phones.

Do I need a physical SIM to use eSIM?

No, you can use eSIM independently or alongside your physical SIM. For instance, you can use your physical SIM for calls and the eSIM for data, or you can switch entirely to eSIM if you prefer.

What should I do if I encounter issues during eSIM activation?

If you face any issues during activation, make sure your device’s software is up to date. If the problem persists, try restarting your device or re-scanning the QR code. You can also contact our support team for further assistance.

Billing & Payments

Are there any hidden fees in my eSIM plan?

The Points price for your selected plan is shown on its page and again at checkout. Check the order total before confirming your purchase.

How do I manage my eSIM billing?

Sign in to My account to view your Order History and manage your account details. Open Balance to check your available Points and your Points history.

How can I view my billing history?

Open Order History in My account to view your previous orders and their details. Your Points activity is shown in Balance.

What payment methods do you accept?

Top up your Balance by card. Top-Ups are always charged in euros (EUR), whatever currency the site is displaying. Then pay for eSIM plans with the Points in your Balance (1 Point = €1). Top-Ups and eSIM purchases are separate orders.

Card payments are handled by our payment provider, which is PCI DSS compliant. We do not store your card details.

How much is one Point?

1 Point = €1. You can top up any amount from 5 to 500 Points per payment, cents included. Top-Ups are always charged in euros (EUR). Plan prices are shown in Points, so what you see is what is taken from your Balance. Points do not expire.

Can I get a refund for unused Points?

No. Points are not refundable or exchangeable for cash; if we charged you in error, contact us and we will correct it. Your Points stay in your Balance. Points already spent on an eSIM plan are covered separately. See our Refund Policy for the details and how to ask.

Can I cancel an eSIM after I buy it?

Before you buy an eSIM, you tick a box to ask for immediate delivery and to acknowledge that you lose your right to cancel once the eSIM has been delivered. After delivery you can no longer cancel that purchase. If the eSIM is not delivered, or it does not work because of a fault on our side or on the side of our network provider, we replace it or return the Points to your Balance. See our Refund Policy.
